دار الفقهاء
Darul Irfan is a foundation of advanced Islamic studies and research. We are based in Istanbul, Türkiye, and conduct educational programs in many parts of the world such as Syria, Qatar, UK, Spain, Tunisia, Uzbekistan, and Russia. The organization was founded in 2020 by Dr Mahmoud Masri, with the vision to preserve and promote our Islamic intellectual and spiritual tradition.
Dr Mahmoud Masri earned his MD in Pediatrics from Aleppo University in 1990, a PhD in the History of Science in 2002, and a Master’s degree in Hadith Studies from Damascus University in 2007. He served as the director of the Aleppo Waqf Library and taught at Aleppo University, the Fath Institute, and various other institutions. He has made significant contributions to the fields of the History of Science, Manuscript Verification, and Islamic Civilization. He has been honored with several awards, including the 2005 International Union of History of Science Prize, the 2005 Kuwait Islamic Medical Sciences Prize, the 2006 Aleppo Intellectual Creativity Award, and the 2002 Arab Historians Honorary Certificate.

“We wish to emphasize that we are not repeating the efforts that have already been exhausted in the fields we seek to serve. We are, in every field, establishing programs and projects that are novel in their thought, or in the form in which they take. Thus, we are filling voids that must be filled for the needs of this vast Ummah.”
Dr Mahmoud Masri
Executive Director, Darul Irfan
Our work intentionally focuses on multiple Islamic sciences so that we can comprehensively continue the legacy of Islamic thought inherited by our ancestors.
To serve our civilizational heritage, we rely on the strength we derive from Islam’s comprehensive nature that combines the material and the spiritual on the one hand, and the distinctive character of Tawhid on the other hand.
Darul Irfan’s work is a communal obligation (Fard Kifaya). It stretches across multiple disciplines, including Islamic studies, manuscript studies, Arabic, poetry, and more.
Darul Irfan’s Theory of Knowledge focuses on research, documentation, education, and culture. It is built on a combination of “Serving knowledge and religion” and “Serving the Ummah’s heritage and civilization”, as was expressed by Imam Ghazali, who said, “The ordering of religion can only be established through the ordering of the world.”

This Ramadan, help us to expand our work across Türkiye and Syria
Darul Irfan is established in Türkiye since 2020. Our Academic Centers are active, but they need your support. Out of nine centers, we have only been able to launch six at this stage.
We are establishing a new chapter in Aleppo, Syria. This is a huge and daily-developing project.
“Manuscripts serve as vessels for people’s authentic memory of their identity and culture”

“Manuscripts are one of the most important sources of information, knowledge, and wisdom. They serve as prominent historical vessels, and as vessels for people’s authentic memory of their identity and culture. Manuscripts also act as a sustainable creative drive for research, authorship, science, literature, art, civilization and human communication.”
